Two Clerihews

(Clerihews are short humorous poems based on the name of a famous person.

Writers or historical figures have been most common in clerihews, but any celebrity

would do. The writers mentioned here may no longer be that well-known…)

1

John O’hara bemoaned as a tragic loss

that he was not born Louis Auchincloss,

who himself was surely not even awara

that plebeian scribbler, John O’Hara.

2

rhymes with that of Robert Lowell,

which makes no sense, but then

neither did Lowell.
